If you’re someone who likes to get after it, this smoothie is for you. It’s rich, creamy, hits you with a chocolate-coffee combo, and actually fuels your day instead of leaving you hungry 30 minutes later.
This one’s become a go-to for me post-workout, when I want something quick that tastes like a treat but still does the job. It’s got protein, it’s got energy, it’s got flavour. And it’s ridiculously easy to make.
Let’s get into it.
What makes this smoothie worth your time
It tastes like a mocha milkshake but it’s built for performance. The cacao creamer gives you that smooth chocolate hit, the banana and berries keep it fresh, and the protein powder locks in that recovery. You’ll feel full, focused, and like you’ve made a good decision before 9am.
Ingredients
-
1 ripe banana (fresh or frozen, frozen gives it that ice cream vibe)
-
¾ cup milk (I use almond or oat, but whatever works for you)
-
¼ cup cacao coffee creamer
-
1 scoop protein powder (vanilla or chocolate both work)
-
½ cup berries (I go frozen, easier and makes it cold)
-
½ cup ice (optional if you’re using frozen banana or just want it colder)
Optional but recommended:
Half a can of Protein Mocha Coffee, bumps up the protein, adds a smooth mocha flavour, and gives you that extra shot of get-shit-done energy.
How to make it
-
Add your milk and creamer to the blender first
-
Toss in the banana, berries, and protein powder
-
Throw in ice if you want it colder or thicker
-
Blend it all up until smooth
-
Taste it, if you want it sweeter, a splash more creamer or half a date will do it
-
Pour it into a tall glass, chuck a lid on if you're on the move, and enjoy
A few variations if you want to mix it up
-
Sub cherries for berries for a black forest vibe
-
Add a tbsp of chia seeds if you want a fibre hit
-
Use a shot of espresso instead of the mocha can if you want more of a caffeine boost
-
Want more protein? Go 1.5 scoops of powder or add Greek yoghurt
Why I rate it
It tastes like you’re cheating but you’re actually fuelling up. You’re getting carbs, protein, healthy fats, antioxidants, caffeine, everything you need to get moving and stay sharp. Whether it’s breakfast, a post-training refuel, or an afternoon slump solution, this one slaps every time.
